Innocean's Saurabh Dasgupta to judge Innovative Advertising at NYF 2009

This will be Dasgupta's second consecutive year at judging the Innovative category

Saurabh Dasgupta, executive creative director, Innocean Worldwide, is on the jury panel for the New York Festivals (NYF) 2009. He will judge the Innovative Advertising category. Dasgupta is the fifth Indian to be on the jury panel for NYF 2009 after Leo Burnett’s KV Sridhar (Pops), TapRoot India’s Agnello Dias (Aggi), RMG Connect’s Kamlesh Mehta and Leo Burnett’s Nitesh Tiwari.

The sub categories for Innovative Advertising include Websites/Microsites/Online Advertising, Website Craft and Technique, Online Advertising, Guerrilla Marketing/ Ambient Media, Advergame/Viral Marketing, Alternative and Innovative Media, Guerrilla Marketing/Alternative Media Craft and Technique.

According to Dasgupta, an idea which shifts from the conventional way of executing a concept will have the potential to win for the Innovative Advertising category.

He adds that he has seen some innovative work from India during the past year and hopes that the agencies will send their entries for the NYF.

Dasgupta has judged the Innovative Advertising category last year as well and in 2007, he was on the jury of the Design and Print category. He has also judged the Summit International Awards which are held in USA and the Marketing Effectiveness Awards (MEA).

Recently, three Indian broadcasters, Multi Screen Media (Sony Entertainment Television), New Delhi Television (NDTV) and Zee News won awards at the TV Programming and Promotion category at NYF 2009.

The NYF Awards recognise work from all over the world in all media, including television, cinema, print, outdoor, interactive, design, mixed media, collateral, radio and student advertising.

The NYF, now in its 51st year, has three standalone international competitions – the Midas Awards for financial services communications, the Global Awards for health-care communications and the AME Awards for advertising and marketing effectiveness.
