In the last few weeks, Zee's GRPs had been declining. In Week 6, Zee's GRPs had dropped to 192. But Week 7 of 2009 spells good time for Zee. With 208 GRPs in the latest week, Zee is just 50 GRPs away from Colors.
Both STAR Plus and Colors have seen a decline in their shares, as per TAM Media Research data on C&S 4+, HSM audience.
STAR Plus, with a channel share of 24 per cent, is still at the No. 1 position. With 278 GRPs, it is 19 GRPs away from Colors, which has garnered 22 per cent share. Its GRPs have fallen from 271 in Week 6 to 259 in Week 7.
Zee TV has increased its share by 2 per cent. Its current relative channel share stands at 18 per cent and it is the No. 3 channel among general entertainment channels (GECs). Two of its older shows - Chhoti Bahu, Betiyaan-Ghar Ki Lakshmi have been good performers. Even the newly launched reality show Dance India Dance has done good for the channel.
Sony, with 76 GRPs, has grabbed 7 per cent channel share, 1 per cent up from Week 6. Sony is at No. 4, followed by DD1 with 66 GRPs and 6 per cent channel share. NDTV Imagine and STAR One share the No. 6 rank, with 5 per cent share each, same as in Week 6.
Both Sahara One and SAB have retained their 4 per cent shares from Week 6. Both 9X and STAR Utsav - both these channels only air repeats - have managed to grab 2 per cent share each in the GEC pie.
Balika Vadhu on Colors has taken the top slot as the most watched programme on Hindi GECs and has recorded a TVR of 7.5; its close competitor, Bidaai, on STAR Plus, is close with a TVR of 7.4. The TVRs of both have dipped in the latest week. Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai on STAR Plus is the third most watched programme and has recorded a TVR of 6.2, while Jai Shri Krishna on Colors has recorded a TVR of 5.5. Dance India Dance is the fifth most watched programme, with a TVR of 4.
The other programmes in the Top 10 list are - Uttaran and Jeevan Saathi on Colors, Chhoti Bahu on Zee, Kis Des Mein Hai Mera Dil and Aap Ki Kachehri on STAR Plus.
