The first edition of the WOW Event and Experiential Marketing Awards was held by EventFAQS, in association with Ad Club, Bombay. It was supported by the Rural Marketing Association of India, with afaqs! as the online partner.

The Awards sought to honour the work done in the field of event and experiential marketing in 2008 across industries. The Awards received 472 entries from 85 entrants across 28 categories, some of which were launch event of the year, knowledge property by an educational institution, school contact programme of the year, college contact programme of the year, sports association of the year by a brand and on-ground promotion of the year for sampling.

Red FM received a total of nine metals, three each of gold, silver and bronze, in exclusive radio categories such as Event by a Radio Station and CSR property by a Radio Station.

Encompass won five awards with three golds -- one of which the agency shared with Nyka Events -- and a silver and a bronze. Ogilvy Action (Outreach)’s score card showed three golds.

Roshan Abbas, managing director, Encompass, was delighted at the win. “It feels great to be amongst the top winners and for our work to be recognised through such an event. After this, I feel that 10 years of putting up with people asking, “What is it that you do?” has really paid off.”

Jagran Solutions bagged a total of five metals -- one gold, two silver and two bronze.

While Ambika Sharma, national head of Jagran Solutions, shares, “We take pride in our ability to plan and execute a brand activation module with precision and finesse, never forgetting that creativity needs free reign and a touch of outrageousness is always welcome, yet remembering the fact that audiences are fragmented with customized needs.”

A total of 70 winners were invited on stage to take home their metals, in a ceremony held at the Grand Hyatt in Mumbai on March 6.
