It's a show with a never seen before format, where a popular figure from the entertainment industry will find her soul mate on television. NDTV Imagine, along with production house SOL, will soon launch a reality show where Rakhi Sawant will get married on television.
SOL was approached by an independent writer, Aditya Bhatt, with the format, after which the production house approached Sawant. Known for her daring image, Sawant expressed the desire to get married on television. NDTV Imagine bought the idea and will soon package it into a reality show called Rakhi Ka Swayamvar.
The show will trace the journey of the bride-to-be from selecting her groom to the marriage ceremony, all on television. Following a 'call for entries' promo on the channel, there will be a nationwide search for prospective grooms. Interested prospective grooms have to send in their profiles for selection, which will be followed by multi-city face to face meetings for short listing of the candidates.
Each week, the fifteen shortlisted grooms will be put through tasks that will test their personality, character, physical fitness, talent and compatibility. The audience will be able to give its feedback and help in the selection process by writing in to the show.
Both the production house and the channel hope to get an overwhelming response to the show. "Viewers know her and I am sure there will be a lot of curiosity around the show, which will attract eyeballs," says Kejriwal.
