Starcom IP relocates Suyesh Shankar as national strategy director, India

Shankar will be based in Mumbai and will look after the digital strategies of Starcom IP clients in India and some key APAC clients

Starcom IP, the digital arm of Starcom MediaVest Group has relocated Suyesh Shankar from Singapore to India as national strategy director.

Shankar will be based out of Mumbai and will be responsible for chalking out the digital strategies for various Starcom clients in India. He will also continue working on the digital strategies of some of the key Starcom Singapore accounts.

Speaking to afaqs!, Shankar says, “My mandate is to grow the Starcom IP business by educating and convincing advertisers to integrate the digital medium into their marketing plans from the beginning itself, and thus boosting the online advertising spends in India.”

He adds, “I will introduce various tools and technologies in India, which we are already using across our branches in various parts of the world. I will also work to create a better digital advertising environment in India and talk to various publishers to develop a better measurement matrix for digital campaigns.”

Pushkar Sane, chief digital officer, north and south Asia, Starcom MediaVest group, tells afaqs!, “India and China are high priority markets for Starcom. Shankar’s relocation will help the group to consolidate and earn more revenue from its Indian presence.”

Shankar has more than 10 years of experience across IT and media. Prior to joining Starcom in 2007, he worked with Dell as marketing manager and was responsible for online marketing. He has also worked with Samsung as business manager for two years.

In Singapore, he was looking after the digital strategies of Oracle, Samsung and Singapore Tourism Board.
