Sanjay Trehan bids adieu to NDTV

Trehan has 22 years of experience across the Internet and advertising space. His next destination will be a consumer focused Internet company

Sanjay Trehan, chief executive officer, NDTV Convergence, the digital arm of the NDTV Group, has put in his papers and is currently serving his notice period. Trehan has been with NDTV Convergence since March 2007.

Speaking to afaqs!, Trehan indicated that his next destination will not be a traditional media house. He says, “I will be joining a consumer focused Internet company.”

He adds, “I am under a non-disclosure agreement, so I can’t divulge the name of the company I will join.”

Trehan has about 22 years of experience in the Internet and advertising space. Prior to NDTV Convergence, Trehan worked with Times Internet Limited (TIL) for two years. He was vice-president, broadband and Web 2.0 at Indiatimes.com, where he rolled out a number of verticals and built Web 2.0 communities. He was also head, online gaming, Indiatimes.com.

Trehan has also worked with Hindustan Times as chief of Internet business for four years and with Jaldi.com, an e-commerce portal, for more than a year.

In the advertising space, Trehan has worked on the creative side with Lowe, Mudra and Montage advertising.

During his tenure at NDTV Convergence, the company launched a video aggregation website called Tubaah.com, a mobile Internet portal (NDTV Active), a youth portal named NoGyan.com and a Hindi news website, NDTVkhabar.com.

He has also spearheaded the launch of various websites of NDTV’s channels, NDTV Imagine and NDTV Lifestyle.

Trehan is also a founding member of the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) and is currently a member of its governing council.
