Arup Ghosh cries foul over ouster from NewsX

Arup Ghosh, former newsroom head of NewsX, is seeking legal recourse on his ouster from the news channel

Arup Ghosh and NewsX have parted ways. Ghosh, who was the newsroom head of the English news channel, says that he was issued a “termination” of services by the channel management, last Friday.

In a statement to the media, Ghosh states that he has decided to seek “legal recourse to claim adequate compensation for the enormous damage caused to my professional reputation and credibility.”

Arup Ghosh cries foul over ouster from NewsX
He terms the action taken by the NewsX management as a conspiracy to ease him out, which is “highly unwarranted, unethical and totally wrongful”.

Meanwhile, Vynsley Fernandes, who was, so far, acting as the operational head of the company, will no longer be available to work with INX News. Fernandes had been deputed for the ‘settling in’ period of the new management.

When asked about the developments, part-owner of NewsX, Vinay Chhajlani, declined to comment on the issue.

NewsX changed hands in January this year, when INX Network, promoted by Indrani Mukerjea, sold the channel to Indi Media. Indi Media has been formed by two media veterans, Vinay Chhajlani, one of the promoters of NaiDunia, the Indore based Hindi daily, and Jehangir Pocha, former editor of Businessworld magazine.
