The winners for the 2009 edition of the Clios are out and India has cause to cheer
The Clio Awards, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary, has announced the winners for the year 2009. At the time of filing this report, India had managed a total tally of two metals (confirmed) this year. The agencies that have won are Contract Advertising and Publicis Ambience.
India had nine shortlists this year, with agencies such as Publicis Ambience, O&M, Leo Burnett and Contract figuring in the final tally. Publicis Ambience leads the pack with three shortlists, whereas the rest were tied with two shortlists each.
Publicis has scored a bronze for its campaign, Sports Capture, for Wespro Digital Cameras in the Innovative category. Its work for Himani Fast Relief, titled The Human Machine, was shortlisted in the TV/Cinema/Digital - Single.
This year, only two Indians have made it to the jury, compared to four members in last year's panel. Senthil Kumar, executive creative director, JWT India, judged the Radio category, whereas Ravi Deshpande, chairperson and chief creative officer, Contract Advertising, judged the TV/Cinema/Digital category.
The awards ceremony took place at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas on May 12-14. Awards were given out in 13 categories – Billboard, Content and Contact, Innovative, Integrated, Interactive, Print, Print: Direct Mail, Poster, Radio, Strategic Communications and PR, Design and TV/Cinema/Digital.
