Ambareesh Murty of eBay India and Sanjay Aggarwal of IRCTC have been appointed as vice-chairperson and treasurer for the financial year 2009-10
Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) has appointed Shailesh Rao, managing director of Google India, as its chairperson and Ambareesh Murty, country manager of eBay India, as vice-chairperson for 2009-2010.
Sanjay Aggarwal, general manager, operations, IRCTC has been appointed treasurer and head of finance of IAMAI. Subho Ray will continue as president.
Earlier, Aggarwal was the vice-chairperson while Sanjeev Bikhchandani, managing director and chief executive officer, Naukri.com was the chairperson. Ratish Nair, co-founder of Interactive Avenues, was the treasurer of the IAMAI in 2008-09.
Murty says “The Internet is now the mainstream medium and the priority in the next few years will be to ensure that the IAMAI represents the entire ecosystem of Internet businesses in India, including start-ups and early stage businesses.”
IAMAI is a non-profit organisation whose mandate is to expand and enhance the online and mobile value added services sectors. It consists of two segments – the governing council and the executive council.
The governing council is the highest elected representative body of the IAMAI which sets the strategic direction of the association and comprises of chief executive officers of various Internet and mobile content companies. The executive council of the IAMAI is responsible for the execution of the annual strategy of the IAMAI as set by its governing council. Rao, Murty and Aggarwal, along with Ray, will represent the executive council for 2009-10.
IAMAI will announce its agenda and set its strategy for 2009-10 in the next few days.
