Viral Bhatt of Triton passes away

Twenty-nine-year-old Bhatt had two stints with Triton Communications in his five-year advertising career

If Viral Bhatt, copywriter, Triton Communications, Mumbai, had seen the light of July 21, 2009, he would have celebrated his 30th birthday. He passed away on July 18, post a cardiac arrest.

Bhatt, as known to his fellow colleagues and close ones, was a go-getter and a motivated young man. Though he was a shy person, he could make the person opposite him smile simply with a glimpse, say people close to him.

As Ali Merchant, founder director, Triton Communications puts it, "Bhatt was young and high-spirited. His demise comes as a shock to each of us, especially because it wasn't expected. He shall definitely be missed, terribly. He was special."

Bhatt reported to Ryan Abraham, creative director, Triton Communications, Mumbai. Abraham remembers Bhatt as a hardworking and honest person, and someone who wanted to make it in advertising.

Apart from working on Eureka Forbes, Bhatt had worked on Hindi scripts from time to time, and contributed for pitches as well.

In about five years that he spent in advertising, Bhatt had two stints with Triton. He started off his career with Triton, Pune, in September 2006 as junior copywriter. He left the agency in February 2008 and moved to AMO, under the Percept umbrella. He was there for less than a year and moved back to join Triton at their Mumbai office in September 2008.

With a BA in English Literature, Bhatt also had a degree in advertising and public relations, which he completed in 2005.
