Times Internet ropes in Rishi Khiani as CEO

The position of CEO at Times Internet was vacant since Dinesh Wadhawan quit in March

Rishi Khiani, chief operating officer, Web18 has moved to Times Internet Limited (TIL) as chief executive officer. His last day at Web18 was July 31. Web18 is the Internet arm of Network18.

Khiani has joined TIL's Gurgaon office yesterday. The position of CEO at Times Internet was vacant since Dinesh Wadhawan, the erstwhile managing director and chief executive officer, quit in March.

Confirming his appointment, Khiani stated that he would report to Vineet Jain, chairman of TIL and managing director of Bennett, Coleman & Co Ltd.

Thirty-four-year-old Khiani has more than 11 years of experience in the Internet domain. In 1998, he started a creative shop called Urban Eye, which later became a Web design and technology company and was acquired by Network18 in 2006.

Khiani says, "At Web18, I was in charge of content of all the verticals and my mandate was to conceptualise and build the various portals."

His team was responsible for the technological development, business planning and design of the front- end of various portals, such as In.com, Josh18.com, Buzz18.com, Tech2.com and Indiwo.com. He spent around three years with Network18.

TIL owns and manages various websites, such as Indiatimes.com, TimesofIndia.com, Economictimes.com and a social networking portal named iTimes.com.
