Disney-ABC appoints Nicholas Wodtke to lead business strategy

He joins as vice-president, business strategy and development and new media

Disney-ABC International Television (DAIT) Asia Pacific has appointed Nicholas Wodtke vice-president, business strategy and development and new media. DAIT Asia-Pacific is the integrated television distribution arm of The Walt Disney Company responsible for the licensing of branded and non-branded entertainment to all platforms in the Asia Pacific region, which includes free to air, cable and satellite broadcasters and mobile, broadband and VOD platforms.

"We see amazing growth potential and business opportunities across the region, fuelled by the rapid evolution of digital technologies," says Rob Gilby, senior vice-president and managing director, DAIT. The company is aggressively pursuing digital media opportunities and hopes to rapidly expand relationships with existing and new partners, while tapping into exciting emerging technologies.

Based in Hong Kong, Wodtke will play a crucial role in expanding the digital media strategy and business initiatives in the Asia Pacific region, help identify new business opportunities and build the company's media business across multiple platforms in all markets in the region.

Wodtke was the chief executive officer of Snap TV, where he looked after the development, production and distribution of interactive game titles across multiple formats, including web games, board games, multiplayer online games and TV games.

Earlier, he was senior-vice president, interactive television, Sony Pictures Digital Entertainment. He has also worked with Columbia Tristar International Television and AXN. He holds an MBA qualification from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor's degree from Bucknell University.
