Komli Media launches video ad network

The company will offer video banner ads and branded video play skin to advertisers

Digital advertising and technology company, Komli Media, has extended its online advertising network services beyond banner ads. It has unveiled an online video advertising network, which will enable advertisers to place their video ads or TV commercials across various websites.

To begin with, Komli Media will only offer video banner ads and branded video player skins to advertisers. It will leverage its existing network of about 3,000 websites to serve video banner ads.

Akshay Garg, business head, Komli Media, tells afaqs!, "However, there are plans to introduce pre-roll, mid-roll and post-roll video advertising services in the next phase." For this, the company plans to approach publishers which have video inventory on their sites.

"We will also contact various prominent sites which are already in tie ups with existing video advertising solution providers such as Vdopia and Jivox," says Garg.

Apart from video banner ads and branded skins, Komli Media will also make available its video ad serving technology to publishers.

In terms of targeting and interactivity, Komli Media will help advertisers to target their video banner ads based on the behaviour, location and type of content read by their target audiences. However, the company will not offer contextual targeting with its video ads.

Garg adds that the company expects its video ad network to contribute at least a single digit percentage of the total revenue.

This is not the first time that an online ad network has extended its services beyond banner ads. Recently, NetworkPlay, an ad network owned by Capital 18 and Goosefish Media Ventures, has extended its services to the DTH (direct to home) platform. NetworkPlay has tied up with Airtel to get advertisers and monetise the interactive channel of Airtel digital TV. NetworkPlay is also eyeing the mobile advertising and IPTV space.
