Subroto Chattopadhyay elected chairman of ABC

The other members of the ABC's Council of Management were also elected

Subroto Chattopadhyay, chairman, The Peninsula Foundation was unanimously elected as the Chairman of Audit Bureau of Circulation (ABC) for 2009-2010, at the 61st annual general meeting of the Bureau. He was the deputy chairman last year. Vijay Darda, chairman, Lokmat Group was unanimously elected as the deputy chairman of the Bureau.

Chattopadhyay started his career with Brooke Bond in 1980 and has been an avid marketing, sales and new business development professional for the last several years. He has also worked with ITC and Pepsico, where he was executive director, and RPG Enterprises, where he was president and CEO, entertainment sector.

He has been the chairman of the Indian Music Industries, as well as a trustee of Washington DC based development agency, Technoserve.

Among the new members elected to the Bureau's Council of Management are: Ravi Pisharody, president - Commercial Vehicle Business Unit, Tata Motors; Vikram Sakhuja, CEO - South Asia, Group M Media; and Aritra Sarkar of ABP Group.

The advertising representatives of the ABC's Council of Management for the year 2009- 2010 are: Subroto Chattopadhyay; Ravi Pisharody; Paulomi Dhawan, Raymond; and S M Ahmad, ITC.

Among the publishers' representatives are: Vijay Darda, Lokmat Group; Ch. Kiron, Ushodaya Enterprises; Ravi Dhariwal, Bennett, Coleman & Co; T. Venkattram Reddy, Deccan Chronicle Holdings; Shailesh Gupta, Jagran Prakashan; M. Venkatesh, HT Media; Amit Mathew, Malayala Manorama; and Aritra Sarkar, ABP.

The advertising agencies' representatives are: Shashi Sinha, Lodestar Universal , who is the honorary secretary; Sam Balsara, Madison Communications, who is the honorary treasurer; Madhukar Kamath, Mudra Communications; and Vikram Sakhuja, Group M. Hormuzd Masani is the secretary general.
