Sameer Manchanda promoted DEN Networks has launched a concept that shall make blogging on live television a reality. DEN, a cable television company, has unveiled blog.telly, a social networking application on Digitelly, the digital TV platform of DEN.

The application will enable consumers to interact with one another on relevant discussion topics and also express on the content shown on television. Subscribers can blog and comment on television content through SMSes or by logging onto the Digitelly website. All comments will be broadcast on television.

Blog.telly offers various discussion forums revolving around current affairs, socio-economic issues, movies, sports and television gossip, including trivia on celebrities, game shows, reality TV, soaps and more. The initial categories segmented are News View, Movie Masala, GupShup and Sports Mania. The best comments from bloggers will be selected under the category 'Blogs of the Day'.

Speaking on the launch, Vikas Bali, president, digital initiatives and corporate strategy, DEN, remarks in an official communiqué, "We live in times of networked economy, wherein communication barriers are rapidly coming down. In order to empower our subscribers to express their individuality, we are providing a micro-blogging television platform."

Neeta Thakre, vice-president, content innovation, DEN, says, "Blog.telly will help us further solidify our relationships with content partners and provide them with qualitative consumer feedback on their shows."

For the record, DEN Networks Limited (DEN) is a cable distribution entity with a pan-Indian footprint. DEN is promoted by Sameer Manchanda, who has about two decades of experience in media and channel distribution, while Raghav Bahl, promoter, Network18 Group, is a director of the company. DEN claims that its current subscriber base is approximately 10 million (1 crore) subscribers.
