Eric Braganza has joined Haier Appliances India as president, replacing Pranay Dhabhai

Home appliances and consumer electronics brand, Haier, has appointed Eric Braganza as president, Haier Appliances India. Braganza, as the overall head of India operations, will oversee sales and marketing, manufacturing and all support functions.

Before joining Haier, Braganza has held senior management positions in the field of consumer durables, working as chief operating officer at Electrolux Hyundai Division and as director, exports, sales and marketing at Videocon Industries.

Braganza says, "I look forward to being a part of the company in these challenging and exciting times. I hope to utilise my experience in the sector to develop a strategic roadmap for propelling the Haier brand forward in India."

He aims to broaden the scope of current engagements, explore growth horizons and help deliver continued value for the company's customers, partners and other stake holders.

Braganza replaces current whole time director and chief operating officer, Pranay Dhabhai, who has quit Haier to start a new venture.

The Haier Group was set up in 1984 in China and according to the Euromonitor statistics of 2003, is ranked as the second largest home appliances brand in the world. Besides China, the group is present globally in the USA, Europe, West Asia, Africa and Southeast Asia.

Haier India is a 100 per cent subsidiary of the Haier Group and started its commercial operations in January 2004. Its product range includes colour televisions, refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, freezers for commercial and medical usage and the recently introduced Spa range of water heaters.
