The Talks OOH event will be held regionally and aims to be a platform for organised interaction between the varied stakeholders of the outdoor industry. The event, Delhi Talks OOH, is being sponsored by Pioneer Publicity and will be the first in a series of events planned for various markets to explore the potential of OOH (out of home) advertising and the role for the outdoor advertising community in the development of infrastructure in the city.

Vasant Jante, project head and publisher, VJ Media Works, says, "As a concept, Talks OOH will be a series of events that will traverse regionally and bring together the stakeholders to discuss specific issues plaguing the particular region. It will further be instrumental in consolidating the much fragmented nature of the OOH industry."

On the choice of Delhi as the first region to hold the event, Jante adds, "New Delhi is perhaps the best place to launch this event as it has a ready-for-implementation policy endorsed by the Supreme Court. Against that backdrop, an event like this would help all parties to come together and compare and discuss agendas. This could help deliver better advertising funded infrastructure to the citizens, revenue to the various civic bodies and new business opportunities to the OOH community."

He feels that so far, industry-regulator interactions have mostly been of the reactive kind to discuss topical issues that need to be redressed. However, with a considerable representation from the regulators' side, the event will extend itself to be a more intense and solution-yielding platform.

The agenda for the event is to enable a healthy and constructive debate on how the OOH community can participate in the various city infrastructure development initiatives of the authorities to mutual benefit.

VJ Media Works will announce the entire speaker's line up in the first week of November.

An important component of the agenda of Delhi Talks OOH will be to discuss the role of the industry in getting the city geared up to host the Commonwealth Games next year.

Jante says, "Of course, the Commonwealth Games will be an important part of the agenda, but the broader objective is to enable a conversation that will establish an ongoing working relationship between all interest groups in the situation. I think it is time that the industry and the regulators in all markets across the country get together to define and deliver on mutually agreed upon objectives."

Delhi Talks OOH will be held on December 18 at Intercontinental, Nehru Place in New Delhi.

There are plans to take the same event to other cities across the country, addressing specific issues in and around that region.
