Tarun Katial promoted as CEO at Reliance Media World

Katial was earlier the chief operating officer of Big 92.7 FM

Tarun Katial, the erstwhile chief operating officer of Big 92.7 FM, is now the chief executive officer of Reliance Media World. Katial will directly report to the board of directors; he will look after the radio business and the strategic business units (SBUs) -- Big Live, Big Reach, Big Street and Big Events.

So far, nobody has been appointed to Katial's earlier position.

The 33-year old was involved in the launch of Big 92.7 FM, India's largest FM network of 45 stations, in 2006. He has been actively involved in the growth and evolution of the radio industry in India, while creating awareness about the panoramic difference that the radio medium can create for the economy, consumers and advertisers.

"Reliance ADA Group has given me this opportunity to be a part of its media business. I will continue to endeavour to build a 360 degree platform to touch consumers' lives and positively impact them," Katial says in an official statement.

Prior to Big FM, Katial has had stints at STAR as executive vice president -- content and at Sony as business head. He has conceived, produced and marketed television brands such as Kaun Banega Crorepati, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki, Khullja Sim Sim, Indian Idol and Fame Gurukul.

After finishing his MBA in marketing in 1998, Katial worked for several advertising agencies, including Saatchi & Saatchi, Enterprise Nexus, and Ogilvy & Mather.

He was voted the NewsCorp Achiever for Asia and was also included amongst the best in the India Today 30 on 30 list. He was also a part of the team that won the first Media Gold at Cannes.

In another strategic development at Reliance Media World Ltd, Ismail Dabhoya has been promoted to chief financial officer from senior vice-president (finance and commercial). He has been with the company since its inception in 2006. He has been responsible for managing the financial side of the business and building credibility and reputation for the company within the financial community.

Dabhoya was earlier the deputy financial controller of Star India Pvt Ltd for three years.
