Jacob returns to Grey India, this time as vice-president and head of South; he will be based in Bengaluru
After a stint with Bates 141 as vice-president and head of South, Chennai, Vijay Jacob is now moving to familiar territory. He returns for a second stint with Grey India, as vice-president and head, South. He will be based in Bengaluru.
Jacob tells afaqs!, "I am getting back in Grey and hope to explore innovative markets and challenges. I want to continue building brands as there's plenty of talent in the South. My focus is to develop a higher level of sensitivity to clients' business needs."
Incidentally, this is the first time that Grey has appointed someone to this position in the South.
Jacob can be termed an experimentalist, because of the variations in his work profile. He started out in 1995 as marketing and sales personnel for Eveready Industries and then moved to Bazee.com (now eBay).
He shifted to advertising nine years back, while working for Fountainhead as group account manager. An important break came when he joined Mudra Communications as brand director. Later, he joined Grey Worldwide; and then proceeded to David, where he acknowledges having done some memorable work on CavinKare shampoo, CavinKare milk (under dairy division) and Apollo Hospital.
Jacob will take charge of Grey's southern brands, including Britannia, ITC, UB, Wockhardt Hospital, Kirtilal Jewellers, 3M and Deccan Express Logistics.
