"An innovative strategy to create change for our clients' brands and businesses can be expected of me. I am looking forth to work alongside ECD, Hendra Lesmono and the remaining team to extend Bates' successful journey in the industry." says Sarkar in a statement to the media.

Digby Richards, CEO, Bates 141 Asia Pacific, adds, "Sarkar is apt for the position he has acquired, because of his experience at leading agencies contributing in the creative department, strategic planning, activation and management. He is a good multi-tasker and can lead our agency to deliver integrated solutions, which will help our clients succeed."

It is notable that Sarkar, with a master's degree in Economics, ventured into advertising as a trainee copywriter in Ogilvy India. Since then, there's been no looking back. Sarkar joined McCann-Erickson in 1992, working on various multinational and local brands, and eventually became the head of the creative team at Result McCann (direct marketing and activation). During 2005-2006, he grew to the position of national creative director at Result McCann.

After a brief stint with TBWA India, Sarkar moved to JWT as strategic planning director in 2006. In JWT, he not only got a position of general manager at its Indonesian agency in the beginning of 2008, but also headed strategic planning and account servicing.
