Rajeev Raja is NCD, DDB Mudra Group

Raja joined the agency in November last year to head the creative function of the Mumbai office

Rajeev Raja has been elevated to the position of national creative director for the DDB Mudra Group. The group, which is part of the Mudra Group, has four agencies under it - DDB Mudra, Tribal DDB India, RAPP India and Mudra Health and Lifestyle. Raja was earlier the creative head of the Mumbai operations of the group.

At the Mudra Group, the last few months have been invested in "strengthening the DDB Mudra Group with formidable talent, as well as moulding an internal structure that enables us to build and harness our collective creative energy," says Sandeep Vij, chief executive officer, DDB Mudra Group, in a statement to the press.

"This culture and structure is being built to offer 'One Voice Planning and Creative'. And I'm delighted to announce that as NCD, Rajeev will be spearheading the collective creative efforts of the group," he adds.

Bobby Pawar, chief creative officer, Mudra Group says, "Our ambition is to set the bar for creativity and effectiveness in mainline, digital, direct, health and lifestyle. Rajeev's mandate is not only to live up to DDB Worldwide's creative reputation, but to add to it. It's a challenging task, but I'm sure he'll do a great job."

Raja tells afaqs!, "The past year has been fantastic and from here on, the challenge is greater with an even better opportunity." It's a chance to create some superb work for the Indian market, in keeping with the international standards of DDB, he shares.

Raja is happy about the way the Mudra Group has integrated its various divisions. "What's truly exciting is that we won't be paying mere lip-service to the term integration; by integrating creative efforts across the four SBUs of the Group, we'll truly be embodying the philosophy of 'One Voice'."

Until now, Raja was responsible for the creative output at DDB Mudra's Mumbai office. With this change, he will oversee all the work in the four offices of the DDB Mudra Group across the country.

Raja has been strategically involved in the launch of the Volkswagen Beetle, which will happen today. Volkswagen is handled by the DDB Group in international markets.

He has over 20 years of experience in advertising and has worked on brands such as Peter England, BPL, IBM, Virgin Mobile, TOI, Tata Salt, Nokia, Hamam, Tata AIG, Radio City and ICICI Credit Cards.

In his last role, Raja was executive creative director at Bates 141. He was with the agency for a good 11 years, before moving to DDB Mudra in November 2008.

Raja is also a famous flautist with his own band, Rajeev Raja Combine. He has scored music for a Hindi film, 'Bas Yun Hi'.
