At Rajasthan Royals, Morris will focus on development of the brand outside the country
IPL franchise, Rajasthan Royals has appointed Sean Morris as chief executive officer. Morris is a former Hampshire player, who retired from his professional cricket career on account of an injury, after having played six seasons for Hampshire County Cricket Club in the 1990s.
He joined the UK's Dunlop Slazenger, a sports equipment supplier, soon after. Here, his mandate was to establish Slazenger as a leading cricket brand in the UK. Since January 2008, Morris was the CEO of Professional Cricketers Association, a role he stepped down from in October this year. His work involved building bridges with the various stakeholders - the counties, the ICC and IPL.
"The Rajasthan Royals are a huge success story and have developed a huge international following. I look forward to working with the players, the board, sponsors and fans to build on the team's achievements," Morris says.
Morris will be based both in London and India. In a fortnight, Rajasthan Royals will launch a promotional campaign gearing up for the third season of IPL. Early this year, the team logo was changed to make it more contemporary and visible in all formats of execution.
