Synovate Business Consulting rejigs its India team

Karthik Ramamurthy has been made country head and Suheil Murgai has been roped in to manage Synovate BC's Delhi operations

Synovate Business Consulting (BC), the strategic consulting arm of global market research firm Synovate, has made two key appointments for its India operations with immediate effect. Karthik Ramamurthy, who, so far, handled Synovate BC's Mumbai business, has been elevated to the post of country head, India - a freshly created post.

Also, Suheil Murgai has joined Synovate and will be responsible for managing Synovate BC's Delhi operations. He replaces Naresh Priyadarshi, who was heading the Delhi division till recently, and has recently quit the company.

Ramamurthy's key responsibilities as country head include handling the overall business module of India and overseeing the country targets. In his new role, he will report to Peter Snell, chief executive officer, Synovate BC and Christophe Grimont, director, Asia-Pacific, Synovate BC.

Ramamurthy has been associated with the company since 2005. At Synovate, he has handled opportunity analysis, competitive and growth strategy, value chain analysis, got-to-market strategy and business planning. He has handled clients such as Dupont, GE Energy, GE Healthcare, Nokia, Parkway, Samsung, Siemens, Textron, Ashland, B&Q, Bayer, Ducab, Epson, Kimberly-Clark, Federal Signal, NEC, Philips, New, Gore & Associates, Alibaba, Nissan, Yash Birla Group and CNBC TV18.

Prior to joining Synovate, Ramamurthy was associated with Reliance Infocomm. During his career, he has also worked with the Boston Group. Ramamurthy has an MBA degree from HEC School of Management, Paris; M Tech from IIT Delhi; B Tech from Naval Engineering College; and also holds an advanced certificate in Intellectual Property Rights from WIPO.

Murgai joins from SmartAnalyst, where he was senior manager. During his career, he has also worked with JK Tyre and ICICI Bank. Based out of Delhi, Murgai will report to Ramamurthy.

Armed with nine years of experience, Murgai started his career in 2000 and is an alumnus of IMT Ghaziabad.

With the appointments, Synovate BC's core team for India comprises Karthik Ramamurthy, Suheil Murgai and Amit Naikare.

In an official communiqué, Ramamurthy says, "We have been advising clients on market entry strategy, market sizing and positioning, value chain analysis, pricing analysis and corporate benchmarking, amongst other things. We foresee an exciting year for our consulting business in 2010, with our operations expected to expand to other markets."
