Bingo draws more audience than Bigg Boss

The show that aired for one and a half hour fetched a TVR of 3.5

Game show National Bingo Night debuted on Colors on Saturday, drawing more than 11 million viewers, as per aMap data (C&S, 4+, NWE). The show, which aired for 83 minutes, claims an average time spent of 26 minutes per viewer. The channel's viewership has doubled in that time slot compared to last week.

The inaugural episode of the show hosted by actor Abhishek Bachchan had his father, actor Amitabh Bachchan, as the guest. The episode garnered a TVR of 3.5. The opening episode of Bigg Boss Season 3, hosted by Amitabh, had recorded a TVR of 3.

Despite a good debut, National Bingo Night was not the most watched property on television in that time band. Zee garnered a higher TVR of 3.8, owing partly to the telecast of the movie Jab We Met and partly to Dance India Dance.

aMap's analysis suggests that the show is equally popular among both genders, but popularity differs as per age groups. The show seems to be more popular among the 35+ age group and more popular among the SEC A and B audiences.

The weekly show will have celebrities such as Shahrukh Khan, Karan Johar, Farhan Akhtar, Deepika Padukone, Arshad Warsi, Vidya Balan and the child actors of Balika Vadhu participating in further episodes, along with common people.

Ashvini Yardi, programming head, Colors, says that on the launch day alone, about one lakh tickets were downloaded in a span of 7-8 hours. Tickets were distributed through leading publications across the country on January 23. To ensure participation from viewers watching at home, the channel distributed tickets through dabbawalas in Mumbai, in railway stations/metro stations, bus stops, multiplexes , parks and traffic signals two-three days prior to the telecast.

When asked about the number of calls received on the day of the telecast, Yardi says, "We are sure that many people have picked up the tickets and have played the game. We have received many calls from viewers who have won the game, but the final numbers are yet to be collated."
