Raj Mohanty to join LG Ad as general manager, India

Mohanty will spearhead the agency's expansion across India

Raj Mohanty, senior business director, Poster Publicity has called it quits at the agency, moving to LG Ad as general manager, India. He will report to June Kim, managing director, LG India.

LG Ad is a Korea based advertising agency. It was established in 1964 as an in-house advertising agency for the LG Group of Korea and has been a frontrunner in the Korean advertising industry since then. The company started its Indian operations in January 2010.

To begin with, in India, LG Ad will explore advertising opportunities for LG products in the form of outdoor, below-the-line initiatives, in-shop branding, events and exhibitions. Later, the company plans to handle other clients as well.

Speaking with afaqs! on his last day at Poster Publicity, Mohanty says, "While I was handling north Indian accounts at Poster Publicity, my responsibility at LG Ad will be on a national level, involving the setting up of the new entity."

Mohanty's educational qualifications include a bachelor's degree in statistics and a post graduate degree in business administration from XLRI. Prior to joining Poster Publicity in 2007, he has worked with some big names in the outdoor industry, including Clear Channel, Percept OOH and Posterscope. He also had a brief stint with Airtel, where he handled communications.

His first break in the outdoor business was in the year 1998 with Salvis Outdoor, a Kolkata based outdoor agency. Before this, he worked as a commercial pilot with East West Airlines.

LG Ad, which is based in Delhi, plans to open offices in Mumbai and Bengaluru as well.
