GEC Watch: Star Plus' two shows race to the top

Colors continues its reign, while Zee and Sony lose GRPs

Week 8 data from TAM (C&S, 4+ HSM) shows Colors ruling the GEC charts once again, with 307 GRPs. Colors has a channel share of 22 per cent; a percentage point less than in Week 7. At No. 2, STAR Plus has seen an increase of 7 GRPs this week. It has acquired 288 GRPs and a channel share of 21 per cent in Week 8.

Zee TV, on the other hand, has lost 5 GRPs this week, compared to Week 7. At No. 3, the channel has garnered 241 GRPs with a relative share of 18 per cent -- the same as in Week 7.

At No. 4, Sony becomes the biggest loser by registering a fall of 18 GRPs in Week 8. Sony has garnered 155 GRPs, with a relative channel share of 11 per cent.

NDTV Imagine, at No. 5, has gained 8 GRPs. The channel has 128 GRPs and a share of 9 per cent in Week 8. The No. 6 position goes to SAB, which has 86 GRPs and a relative share of 6 per cent. SAB has also lost 7 GRPs this week.

STAR One, Sahara One and DD1 have managed a relative channel share of 2 per cent each in Week 8; while STAR Utsav and 9X have 1 per cent each.

Among the top 10 programmes on Hindi GECs in Week 8, STAR Plus' Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and Bidaai were the top two programmes, garnering TVRs of 7.5 and 6.5 respectively. Pavitra Rishta, at No. 3 got 6.3 TVR; followed by Uttaran with a TVR of 5.8. At No. 5, Na Aana Is Des Lado got a TVR of 5.1.

The other programmes in the top 10 list are: Balika Vadhu, Jhansi Ki Rani, Behenein, 12/24 Karol Bagh and Chhoti Bahu.
