IPL Season 3 inaugural match breaks record
This is higher than the first season of IPL, which garnered a TVR of 4.1 on the inaugural day and the second season's inaugural match, which managed to fetch a TVR of 3.5. Approximately 6.6 million viewers tuned in to watch the match that lasted 163 minutes.

The time spent has increased from 30 minutes in Season 2 to 47 minutes for the Friday match.

Among the 4+ age group in the six metros, the TVR recorded for the season's inaugural match is 3.8, same as that garnered in the first season. However, far more viewers tuned in this time.

aMap suggests that approximately 7.6 million viewers tuned in this time, as against 5.6 million for the first match in the first season. For the second season, almost 8 million viewers had tuned in.
