GECs suffer 11 per cent hit in IPL week

STAR Plus is the No. 1 GEC in the latest week

There has been a decline of 11 per cent in the share of general entertainment channels in the second week of the IPL telecast, as per TAM data for Week 12 (C&S, 4+, all India). The Hindi news genre has also seen a decline of 7.6 per cent in the latest week.

The share of Hindi movie channels has seen a rise of 42 per cent, owing to the telecast of IPL on SET Max, a movie channel.

STAR Plus is the No. 1 GEC in week 12, as per the TAM report. The channel has maintained its share of 24 per cent from Week 11 and has garnered 315 GRPs (C&S, 4+, HSM). Colors is 24 GRPs behind at No. 2, garnering a relative share of 23 per cent.

The finale of STAR Plus' music reality show, Music Ka Maha Muqabala, which was held on Saturday, recorded a TVR of 3.

Zee TV is at No. 3 with 252 GRPs. Its relative share has grown from 17 per cent in Week 11 to 20 per cent in Week 12.

Sony, at No. 4, has seen a decline in GRPs, from 157 in Week 11 to 114 in Week 12. The channel's share stands at 9 per cent. It is followed by Imagine TV, which has garnered a share of 8 per cent.

SAB and STAR One have garnered relative shares of 6 and 4 per cent, respectively. Sahara One, DD1 and STAR Utsav have garnered 2 per cent each.

On the list of most watched programmes on Hindi GECs, Bidaai is at No. 1, garnering a TVR of 6.8. It is followed by Balika Vadhu, which garnered a TVR of 6.5. Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and Pavitra Rishta have recorded a TVR of 5.6 each. Uttaran is at No. 5 with a TVR of 5.

The other top programmes are: Pratigya, Na Aana Is Des Laado, Dance India Dance 2, Yahan Mein Ghar Ghar Kheli and Jhansi Ki Rani. Zee TV has the most number of shows in the top 10 list.
