Jupiter and Express Publications enter into strategic partnership

Jupiter Media and Entertainment Ventures and Express Publications Madurai have entered into a strategic alliance, with the aim to jointly pursue media opportunities in various languages. To begin with, this alliance will enable Jupiter to take equity investments in Kannada Prabha, a daily newspaper.

This partnership will enable a vast synergy between two big Kannada news brands -- Kannada Prabha and Suvarna News 24x7. The synergies will be explored in the wide editorial network across Karnataka, as well as in product and space marketing. This partnership, the parties hope, will help propel the two brands and products into leadership positions.

The alliance is also expected to unlock new opportunities in Karnataka and beyond, benefiting various stakeholders, such as readers, viewers, employees and advertisers.

Express Publications Madurai is part of the New Indian Express Group, an independent group that publishes newspapers and periodicals in the states of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Orissa and union territories of Pondicherry, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep.

The company's publications include dailies such as The New Indian Express in English and Dinamani in Tamil, besides Kannada Prabha. The company also publishes magazines such as Cinema Express and Tamilan Express in Tamil and Samakalika Malayalam Vaarika in Malayalam.

Jupiter Media and Entertainment Ventures owns, operates or has invested in a number of media companies in South India. These include Suvarna News 24x7, a Kannada news channel and Asianet News. The company's JV with STAR, Star-Jupiter Entertainment, includes five GECs -- Asianet and Asianet Plus (Malayalam), Suvarna (Kannada), Vijay (Tamil) and Sitara (Telugu). It also owns radio brands, Best FM and Radio Indigo, as well as Jupiter Entertainment and Indigo Films.
