Jagran Solutions sets up MICE Division

To tap the growing market of meetings, incentives, conferences and events, the company has rolled out a new division

To tap the growing MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and events) segment, Jagran Solutions, a part of Jagran Prakashan, has set up a MICE division that will offer end to end solutions ranging from destination management to ticketing, hotels, creative conferencing, technical, event production, speaker management, entertainment and leisure to its clients.

The marketing agency, however, was providing conferencing services as part of its offering earlier. Looking at the opportunities in the segment, it decided to roll out a new division. "Now, a lot of companies are exploring international destinations, particularly in Southeast Asia and out-bound has increased quite a lot. Therefore, we needed more focus on the segment and a dedicated division," explains Ambika Sharma, national head, Jagran Solutions.

To create integrated approach and better value for the customers, Jagran Solutions' MICE division will focus on delivering better return on investment (ROI) for the clients.

The division will be operational in Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru and has a team of about 10 dedicated employees.

With the division in place and functional, Jagran Solutions is looking at providing services for outbound destinations as well as national coverage for domestic and in-bound support destinations.

"Globally, the market is estimated at more than US$230 billion and it is a segment which is growing every year in India. In many ways, parts of the segment have been recession proof because meeting people is seen as beneficial from a corporate point of view. On the other hand, events and conferences have been holding very strong," says Rajeev Kohli, vice-chairperson, India Convention Promotion Bureau (ICPB).

ICPB is national division sponsored by the Ministry of Tourism, which aims at marketing India as a MICE destination.

He adds that the country is experiencing a growth of 8-10 per cent a year and from the incentives point of view, since people held back last year, the segment has seen a sudden upswing this year.

Jagran Solutions had set up a rural division in 2009 to address the marketers' needs to activate emerging Indian markets and consumers.
