Although Bala hasn't finalised plans on his next destination, he says that he would like to start an independent venture in the media and entertainment space. About his decision to move out of Zoom, he says, "I wanted to move on to a bigger canvas. At this stage of my professional life, I have another eight-10 years to go."

He calls his stint at Zoom satisfying. "From struggling to sustain and being considered a serious business, to becoming profitable and carving out a clear positioning in the market, Zoom has come a long way," he states.

Bala has 30 years of work experience, of which 18 years have been in advertising and the rest in television. He has had two television stints in India at Channel V, where he joined as general manager. Subsequently, he moved to Canada, where he worked for Canadian Broadcast and Comcast in the US.

Sunil Lulla, managing director and chief executive officer, Times Global Broadcasting, in an email response, says, "We have not made any announcement on the chief executive officer (to replace Bala) at Zoom Entertainment Network. Suresh Bala has only recently stepped down for personal pursuits."
