Sachin Talwalkar appointed VP, creative, Contract

Talwalkar brings in about 13 years of experience

Contract has roped in Sachin Talwalkar as vice-president, creative to strengthen its creative team. Talwalkar will partner Uddalak Gupta, creative director, Contract to handle key clients such as NIIT, SpiceJet, Ten Sports, JK Tyres, Shell Lubricants, The British High Commission and Globus Spirits. He will report to Nima Namchu, executive creative director, Contract.

Confirming the news to afaqs!, Prashant Mathur, who recently joined Contract as head of the Delhi branch, says, "This is in effort to spruce up our creative team and improve the quality of work from our agency."

Talwalkar brings with him an experience of about 13 years. His last stint was as a creative consultant in London, working with agencies such as Ogilvy, Leo Burnett and DDB.

He began his career as a freelancer in Mumbai, working for Ammiratti Puris Lintas, where he helped conceive and design the label for Domex and Vim, along with the then creative director, Sandeep Madkar. He also had brief stints with The Indian Express, Vyas Giannetti Creative and Quadrant Communications before moving to Germany on a professional scholarship.

He stayed on in Europe for the next 10 years, working for BBDO and DDB in Dusseldorf and then moving on to Milan, Italy to handle P&G's oral care business for WECEEMEA at Saatchi & Saatchi. In Europe, he worked on brands such as VW, Fiat, MasterFoods, Wrigleys, Pepsi, British American Tobacco, Allianz Insurance, Gatorade and Henkel.

His work has been recognised and awarded at Ad Club Germany, Mobius, Eurobest, Epica, Cresta, Cannes, NY Festival, Clio, Montreux Ad Festival, Ad Club Austria, Econ Awards, FAB Awards and LIAA.

Speaking on his new role, Talwalkar says, "I'm really excited to be a part of Contract, which marks my coming back to the country and am looking forward to working closely with Prashant and Nima. Together, we will strive hard to take the agency to newer heights."

In another development, Vandana Katoch, creative director, Contract has moved out of the agency and joined Mudra.
