Chennai based ad agency Optima Advertising has appointed Abraham G Karimpanal as vice-president, creative.
He brings in more than 16 years of experience across various agencies, working on brands from different categories. In his new role, Karimpanal will help strengthen the agency's creative offering across conventional and digital platforms.

Karimpanal shares that one of the main reasons behind joining the agency is that it is involved in digital in a holistic way. "I am looking forward to the challenges that a rapidly growing mid-size agency brings. I believe that the consumers' perception towards advertising still remains the same - What's in it for me? It's only that ways of communication has become more interesting and varied," he adds.
Earlier, Karimpanal was associate vice-president and senior creative director, JWT Chennai. After completing graduation in economics, he started his career with HTA (now JWT) in 1993. After two years, he moved to Ogilvy as a copywriter. Next, he moved to Lowe in 1999 as copy supervisor and spent two years at the agency, followed by a five year stint at Orchard as associate creative director. In 2006, he started his second innings at JWT.
He has worked on many brands including Tanishq, Fastrack, Infosys, Wipro Net Kracker, Oberoi Hotels, Fairever Fairness Cream, Magicwoods, Lotte Confectionery and Pondicherry Tourism.
Some of the key campaigns that Karimpanal has worked on include the Murugappa Corporate campaign, Radisson Resort Temple Bay and Ford Fusion's Test Drive Challenge.
