Publicis Ambience has brought on board Vinod Vijaykumar as vice-president to head its Bengaluru operations. Earlier, Vijaykumar was general manager, South and West, Tequila, TBWA's below-the-line arm. At Publicis Ambience, Vikaykumar will report to Kaustav Das, executive vice-president, South.

It may be recalled that the agency's Bengaluru office was launched a couple of months ago. Aniruddha Banerjee, chairperson, Publicis Ambience, comments on the agency's Bengaluru outfit, "We see great potential in Bengaluru. We have a fully functional Chennai office and the addition of Bengaluru gives us a certain organisational agility, which is much required in the south."

Vijaykumar's experience encompasses both regional as well as global brands, ranging from fashion and lifestyle to FMCG and finance. In a career spanning 12 years, Vijaykumar has worked with brands such as ITC's Classmate notebooks, Apple, SPAR, Visa, Titan Eye Plus and Tanishq.

Das says, "Vijaykumar has the passion and the versatility required to build a new office from scratch."

Vijaykumar sums up his prime responsibility at Publicis Ambience in a rather simple manner. "My mandate is simple; to draw and nurture a happy bunch of team mates and clients who can resist the obvious," he says.

He adds that he is very excited to join the 'conversation' agency and thinks that Publicis holds the key to next practices in integrated communication, with its clear belief in marketing as conversation and the need for an idea to be contagious.
