GEC Watch: Top GECs witness GRP upswing

STAR Plus, Colors, Zee, Sony and SAB add numbers to their GRP scorecards.

Unlike the previous week (TAM data for Week 45, C&S 4+, HSM), when the top three Hindi GECs had shed some fat from their total GRP grades, the TAM data for Week 46 suggests that apart from STAR Plus, Colors and Zee TV, Sony and SAB, too, have added numbers to their GRP scorecards.

STAR Plus, the flagship Hindi GEC from the STAR stable, has added 30 GRPs to its channel grade for the period November 7-13 (Week 46), while retaining the top spot. The channel's relative share, however, remains constant at 26.5 per cent.

Viacom18's channel, Colors, too, has worked up its GRP grade with an added 40 GRPs to its scorecard, while maintaining its No. 2 position. The relative share for Colors has moved up, too. Its relative share for Week 46 is 19.9 per cent, up from the 18.2 per cent share that it had registered in the previous week.

Zee TV has added 9 GRPs to its grade to stand at 205 GRPs for the week, while it has lost its relative share from 14.9 per cent in the previous week to 14.6 per cent in Week 46. Meanwhile, its flagship show, Pavitra Rishta, is the top show for the week with a TVR of 6.08.

Sony Entertainment Television is at No. 4 with 189 GRPs, up from 178 GRPs in the previous week, wherein its lead property, Kaun Banega Crorepati, captures the fifth spot in the Top 10 list with a TVR of 5.27.

SAB, at No. 5, has registered 137 GRPs (126 GRPs in the previous week) in Week 46, with a relative share of 9.7 per cent. It is followed by Imagine TV, which has lost both in GRPs as well as channel share. It has lost 9 GRPs for the week, garnering a score of 105 GRPs, while recording a relative share of 7.5 per cent, down from the 8.7 per cent registered in Week 45.

STAR One is at No. 7; the channel's relative share is 3.1 per cent for the week, while its GRPs have moved up from 39 GRPs to 43 GRPs.

DD1 and STAR Utsav have garnered relative shares of 1.4 per cent and 1.7 per cent respectively, while Sahara One has garnered a relative share of 1.8 per cent.

Pavitra Rishta on Zee TV is the most watched programme in the Top 10 list with a TVR of 6.08. Four shows from the STAR Plus stable, including Bidayi (with 6.06 TVR), Saathiya Saath Nibhana (with 5.56 TVR), Sasural Genda Phool (with 5.02 TVR) and Pratigya (with 4.5 TVR) are part of the Top 10 list. Color's Uttaran (with 5.64 TVR) is the third most watched programme amongst Hindi GECs, while Kaun Banega Crorepati (Sony) is at the fifth spot (5.27 TVR).

Also, Colors' shows, Balika Vadhu (with 4.93 TVR), Laagi Tujhse Lagan (with 4.53 TVR) and Bigg Boss Season 4 (with 4.4 TVR) have made it to the Top 10 list.
