UTV Interactive appoints Sameer Pitalwalla as business head, 3G

Pitalwalla will drive the 3G initiatives of UTV.

UTV Interactive, the digital arm of UTV, has appointed Sameer Pitalwalla as business head, 3G. Pitalwalla will be responsible for driving the 3G initiatives across platforms for the UTV Interactive division.

Earlier, Pitalwalla was working as head, Times Audience Network (TAN), the digital video arm of the Times Group. He was responsible for creating the online video and on-demand video platforms for mobile and web as a part of the TAN initiative.

Pitalwalla was also the business head of Follo, the arm of the Times Group which handles the digital distribution of celebrity content.

Before TAN, Pitalwalla was head of the digital division of Zoom Entertainment Network.

In an official communiqué, MK Anand, chief executive officer, UTV Interactive, says, "We are very bullish about the 3G space and have lined up aggressive plans under the UTV Interactive banner. We have been on the prowl to have the right person to lead this initiative."

Recently, UTV Interactive launched a new product called Live Wire, which enables users to chat live with celebrities. The digital arm also runs portals such as Techtree.com, CXOtoday.com and Channeltimes.com.

Techtree.com is a consumer oriented portal which provides news and information on gadgets such as mobile phones, laptops and consumer electronic products. CXOtoday.com is a niche website which offers technology related news to chief technology officers of IT companies. Channeltimes.com is targeted at technology vendors and offers information on products, services and business trends for the benefit of channel vendors.
