Sony Music appoints Windchimes Communications for social media marketing

Social media sites will be used to create awareness about bands and artists affiliated to the music company and also announce the launch of music albums.

Sony Music Entertainment (India) has appointed Mumbai based social media agency Windchimes Communications for social media marketing. The agency has won the business after a pitch process.

Speaking to afaqs!, Nimesh Shah, head maven, Windchimes Communications, says, "Our mandate is to use social media to build a community of music lovers and engage users with the Sony Music brand in India."

"Social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter will be used to create awareness about bands and artistes affiliated to the music company and also announce the launch of music albums. YouTube will be leveraged to spread music videos in the social media space. Bloggers will also be contacted to talk and generate buzz about the launch of music albums and artist/band performances." Some of Sony Music's featured artistes include Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, Shakira, Santana, Usher and Adam Lambert.

Sanujeet Bhujabal, director, marketing, Sony Music, says, "Social media has changed the way people interact globally and we especially see the impact in India now. Given that our brand is primarily talking to an audience that is deeply entrenched in social media, it made perfect sense for us to use social media as a form of communication."
