Confirming his move to afaqs!, Rai says, "Rediffusion has been a rather good ride for me, despite the bumps it went through recently. I was lucky to have found enough growth opportunities within the system. I got to learn and achieve a lot."

Rai has 13 years of experience in advertising, having started his career in 1998 at Draftfcb Ulka, Mumbai, as a management trainee. In early 1999, he moved to the agency's Delhi branch and was there till 2003, when he left as account supervisor. At Ulka, the brands he worked on included Hewlett Packard, LML and Mother Dairy.

Rai, then joined Mudra as an account director and spent a year-and-a-half there, after which he moved to Publicis India. At that agency, he worked on brands such as Hewlett Packard and Teacher's (including Teacher's Achievement Awards).

After Publicis, Rai found his calling at Rediffusion - Y&R. He joined the agency in February 2008, as associate vice-president on the LG business. For a year, he also headed the Airtel business out of Delhi.

In 2010, he was promoted to vice-president and business head, and was made in-charge of one of the three verticals of Rediffusion. Rai affirms that the move out of Rediffusion wasn't planned, but the offer from outside India was a prospect not to be missed.
