Amar Ujala AMCL 2011: Multi Screen Media sails through in the first semi-final of Mumbai

Superlative performance and commendable team effort helped Multi Screen Media find a place in the Mumbai region finals.

Percept versus Aidem

The first match of the day was between Team Percept and Team Aidem. The former won the toss and decided to bat first. Team Percept got off to a good start, with the opening pair of Mukesh and Aditya scoring 53 runs together (off 32 deliveries, 8X4). Setting a target of 116 runs by losing five wickets, the team looked ready for victory.

Team Aidem faced tight bowling from Team Percept, and was ultimately restricted to a sub-100 score. The highest scorer from the team was Haresh, with 30 runs (off 17 balls, 3X4).

Team Percept won the match by 40 runs and Mukesh from the team was declared the Man of the Match.

Multi Screen Media versus BBC

In the next match, Multi Screen Media faced BBC. The latter won the toss and elected to field first. Team Multi Screen Media scored a commendable 136 runs. Vipin Chaurasia played a mighty 80-run (in 33 balls, 10X4, 3X6) knock and remained not out, while his opening partner, Vishal Pandey scored 45 runs (off 25 balls, 7X4, 1X6).

In the second innings, Pratik and Srinivas of Team Multi Screen Media grasped two wickets each, giving away 19 and 12 runs, respectively. Thanks to this team effort, team Multi Screen won the match by 71 runs. Vipin Chaurasia was adjudged the Man of the Match.

Fever FM versus Indian Express

Team Indian Express won the toss and elected to field. The opening batsman of Team Fever FM, Balwant scored 28 runs (off 19 balls, 2X4, 1X6). The highest scorer was Jatin Sharma with 43 runs (off 27 balls, 5X4). Fever FM closed the innings with a score of 93 runs.

This was one of the very few matches which witnessed tight bowling performances and very few extra runs were ceded. Thus, Team Indian Express could manage only 77 runs in 10 overs.

Team Fever FM won by 15 runs, while Jatin Sharma from the side was declared the Man of the Match.

OMD versus Red FM

The next match of the day had OMD taking on Red FM. OMD batted first and set the opponents a target of 99 runs. Anand of Team OMD scored a half-century (off 32 deliveries, 6X4).

Mature bowling from OMD helped the side restrict Team Red FM to 86 runs in 10 overs. Bubalau from Team OMD was the most economical bowler, as he clinched two crucial wickets and ceded 27 runs in the three overs he bowled. The highest scorer from Team Red FM was Mantra, with 33 runs (off 22 deliveries, 4X4).

Team OMD won the match by 12 runs and Anand was adjudged the Man of the Match.

Fever FM versus Multi Screen Media

The first semi-final in Mumbai saw Team Fever FM pitted against Team Multi Screen Media. The former won the toss and decided to bat first. The opening batsman, Makarand scored 20 runs (off 17 balls, 1X4), but tight bowling by Team Multi Screen ensured that Team Fever FM was restricted to a humble score of 65 runs.

Team Multi Screen won the first semi-final by seven wickets. Pratik from the team was declared the Man of the Match for his contribution of 30 runs (13 balls, 4X4, 1X6).
