After Santosh Padhi, chief creative officer and co-founder, TapRoot India, was appointed in the exclusive Executive Jury at the New York Festivals (NYF) International Advertising Awards earlier last month, more Indians from the industry have been announced as jury members to judge various categories.

Grey Mumbai's executive creative director, Rohit Malkani is one of the jury members judging the Collateral category, while his colleague, Bhavesh Kosambia, creative director, will judge the Design category.

Other Indian jury members announced include KS Chakravarthy, national creative director, DraftFCB Ulka (Avant Garde category), Prakash Varma, director, Nirvana Films (Art/Technique and Technology category), Shivanand Mohanty, national creative director, Dentsu India (Digital and Interactive category), Emmanuel Upputuru, national creative director, Publicis India (TV/Cinema/Promo category), Deepak Agarwal, senior creative director, M&C Saatchi-iDirect and Digital (Digital and Interactive category), and Abhinav Tripathi, creative director, McCann Worldgroup (Print category).

On his appointment to the jury, Malkani says, "NYF is one of the most prestigious advertising shows and being selected for the jury is an honour. I am looking forward to a hectic, but stimulating round of judging."

"According to me, a good design is a medium in itself to communicate and you do not need to know any particular language to understand or appreciate it. It is going to be tough to choose a few from thousands around the world but I am sure it is an experience in itself," says Kosambia.

This year, each juror will be assigned to online panels, comprising 10 members each, which will start at different times throughout the online judging process. Each juror will use a special password and an email address to access the entries to be judged.

Only seven days have been allotted to complete the online judging session, with 10-12 hours to complete a session.

The NYF International Advertising Awards competition receives entries from 70 countries and recognises work in all media, in categories such as Art/Technique, Technology, Avant Garde, Collateral, Design, Digital & Interactive, Hispanic USA Advertising, Marketing Effectiveness, Mixed Media, Outdoor, Print, Public Relations/Brand Communications, Public Service Announcements, Radio, Student and Television/Cinema.

The 2011 Executive Jury comprises 30-40 senior creative people from across the globe. The four-day series of events, including seminars and exhibits, will culminate in the annual International Advertising Award presentation ceremony, taking place on May 4-5.
