Sandeep Lakhina moves on from Starcom MediaVest Group

Lakhina is presently serving his notice period as the COO of Starcom MediaVest Group.

Sandeep Lakhina, chief operating officer, Starcom MediaVest Group, India, has decided to move on. He shall serve his notice period in the organisation till June.

Speaking on the development, CVL Srinivas, chairman, Starcom MediaVest Group India, says in a press statement, "Lakhina has been a part of the India network for over three years. As COO, he played an important role in managing the operations. We wish him the best."

Lakhina remarks on his decision, "It has been an enriching journey for me at SMG. I have worked with a bunch of bright enthusiastic people, a set of great clients and brands, and an industry which has seen colossal highs and lows since I joined in end-2007."

Lakhina further adds that it is now time for him to pursue other interesting opportunities outside the organisation, and he looks forward to the next phase of his career with "excitement and vigour."

For the record, Lakhina joined Starcom in 2007 as Managing Director, India, for the West and South regions. Prior to this, he spent a brief while as CEO, India operations at Maverick Media.

An MBA in Marketing from the Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad, and an MBA in strategy and operations from Southern Methodist University - Cox School of Business, Lakhina started his career as a management trainee at Bajaj Electricals in 1992. He went on to work as managing partner at Future Positive, the apparel and fashion company, for three years. A short stint for about a year at Zenith Computers followed, where he functioned as sales manager. Post that, he joined Euro RSCG as group account manager for about two years.

After a brief stint at Ebony Retail as general manager, marketing, Lakhina went on to become an independent consultant in 1999, for a period of two years, post which he did stints at Deloitte Consulting (senior manager) and The Coca-Cola Company (as global manager) for three years. Then came the Maverick Media offer, after which Lakhina joined Starcom in 2007.
