With this launch, which took place on April 17, the group completes its plans for Jharkhand.
Dainik Bhaskar Group (DB Group) the publishers of the Hindi daily Dainik Bhaskar, launched an edition from Dhanbad on April 17. The group will launch sub-editions from the surrounding regions around Dhanbad in a week.
In an official communiqué, Sudhir Agarwal, managing director, DB Group, says, "Our launch in Dhanbad completes our foray into Jharkhand - a region that holds strong potential and is of great strategic importance to DBCL. We are confident that with our understanding and experience of reader acquisition through our unique in-depth surveys and reader retention strategies, we will emerge a front-runner in the Dhanbad region.
"We have meticulously planned and ensured a mix of content to cater to tastes of distinct readership profiles following our research covering over 1,61,000 units, including households, retail outlets and commercial units."
The group has also completed Phase 1 of the readership survey in Aurangabad. Phase 2 of the survey, which includes booking of copies, is currently under way. The first edition of the Marathi daily, Divya Marathi, is expected to be launched from Aurangabad in the first quarter of FY 2011-12.
For the record, DB Group publishes seven newspapers with 58 editions and 135 sub-editions in three languages (Hindi, Gujarati and English) across 13 states. The group also owns Business Bhaskar, DB Gold and DB Star, and DNA (in Gujarat and Rajasthan) on a franchisee basis. Its flagship newspaper, Dainik Bhaskar, was established in 1958.
