Iris India promotes Ashish Mathur as managing director

Mathur was senior vice-president (experiential); he replaces Alok Lall who quit Iris India in March.

The London-headquartered integrated marketing agency Iris Worldwide, has appointed Ashish Mathur as its new managing director for India. Mathur had earlier held the post as senior vice-president (experiential), Iris India, since October 2009.

He replaces Alok Lall who quit the agency a couple of months back in March. Lall had co-founded the Gurgaon-based Indian office four years ago with Stewart Shanley, the agency's global chief operating officer and Kenneth Augustine, creative director, Iris India.

In his new role, Mathur will oversee the running of the agency and its work for key clients such as Coca-Cola, Sony Ericsson, Microsoft and Adidas, among others.

In a press statement, Mathur says, "I am with Iris because I strongly share the agency's belief in the power of ideas and the integrated marketing solutions we provide. During my time here, I have worked with some amazing people on some innovative and truly integrated campaigns, and have done things another agency would never have believed in," Mathur says in a press statement.

"Mathur is a natural fit in the role during these exciting times. India is one of the fastest evolving markets in the world, and we are working with some great clients and winning a lot of new business. He has a big job on his hands and is the right person to steer the agency through this growth phase of the India office, while also consolidating our existing business here," adds Shanley.

Armed with over 25 years of experience in experiential and integrated marketing across industry segments, Mathur was senior vice-president, activation at Publicis. He has also worked as chief operating officer (North & East), Percept D'Mark, and headed Ogilvy's activation business in the past.

The various brands Mathur has worked on in the course of his career include American Express, Beam Global, GSK, General Motors, Motorola, Aviva and Google.

Founded in London in 1999, Iris today is spread across 15 countries in the world, and had 22 offices. Over the years, the agency has diversified to offer services in various disciplines such as management consultancy, CRM, direct and digital, advertising, PR, experiential, retail, and sponsorship.
