Metlife's Prasanjeet Dutta Baruah joins The Oberoi Group as vice-president, marketing

Prasanjeet Dutta Baruah has joined The Oberoi Group as vice-president, marketing. He will be based in the company's Delhi office.

Dutta Baruah moves in from Metlife Insurance, where he headed the research and analytics, branding and digital marketing function. He was with the company for the past three years.

In his new role at The Oberoi Group, he will be responsible for leading the marketing portfolio with key priorities, which includes being responsible for marketing strategy, advertising, digital marketing, research, customer value management and analytics.

Dutta Baruah brings with him 14 years of experience in the industry. In his career so far, he has gathered a varied experience in marketing roles, across sectors such as consumer durables, banking, retail and financial services.

Prior to his role at Metlife Insurance, Dutta Baruah headed the brand function at Max New York Life, and has also worked with Shoppers Stop, where he was in charge of marketing, customer insights, customer loyalty and customer service. He has worked at Usha International in a managerial role, earlier in his career.

An alumnus of Mayo College Ajmer, Dutta Baruah pursued higher education at Delhi University.

Founded in 1934, The Oberoi Group operates 32 hotels and cruisers under the luxury brand Oberoi and the five-star brand Trident in India, Egypt, Mauritius, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia. The Group is also involved in flight catering, managing airport restaurants, travel and tour services, car rentals, project management and corporate air charters. Currently, there are 20 Oberoi hotels and cruisers, across five countries.
