Courtesy Rajinikanth, Sony garners highest incremental GRPs in Week 22

The win arrives piggy-backing on the Rajinikanth-starrer Robot, which was telecast twice on Sunday, May 2, to contribute approximately 33 GRPs to the overall channel grade.

Sony Entertainment Television has garnered the highest incremental GRPs in the Hindi GEC segment, for the week ended May 28, 2011, to add as many as 34 GRPs to its kitty.

The win was primarily due to the Rajinikanth-starrer Robot that was telecast twice on Sunday, May 22. It has contributed approximately 33 GRPs to the overall channel grade. The movie was aired at 12 noon, and 8 pm on the same day, to deliver TVRs of 2.4 and 2.5, respectively.

As a result, Sony's channel share has also improved from 11.5 per cent in Week 21, to 14.3 per cent in Week 22.

Meanwhile, Star Plus, still the flock leader, has lost further numbers. According to TAM (C&S, 4+ HSM), the channel has moved down from 300 points that it had gathered in the previous week, to 283 points in Week 22. Also, its relative market share has seen a dip -- from 25.3 per cent, to 23.8 per cent.

Second-in-command Colors has witnessed just a one-point upswing in its GRP lattice, to gain 231 points during the week. Its market share remains stable at 19.5 per cent.

Zee TV, at the third spot, fell by 10 points, to earn 181 GRPs during the week. Its channel share, however, saw a marginal drop -- from 16.1 per cent in Week 21, to 15.2 per cent in Week 22.

Sony's sibling channel SAB, too, has witnessed a marginal drop in its GRPs, as well as channel share. While its GRPs have dropped to 129 points from 133, its relative share has dropped to 10.9 per cent from 11.3 per cent in Week 21.

At No. 6, Imagine TV has gained one point to finish the week with 69 points. Its relative share has also moved up from 5.7 per cent, to 5.8 per cent. STAR One, with 40 GRPs and a channel share of 3.4 per cent, follows it.

Sahara One is at No. 8. The channel's relative share and GRPs have improved marginally to 2.7 per cent (2.6 per cent in the previous week), and 32 GRPs (31 GRPs in the previous week), respectively.

STAR Utsav and DD1 have garnered relative shares of 2.5 per cent and 1.5 per cent, respectively.

Balika Vadhu (Colors) leads the list of the 10 most-watched programmes, clocking a TVR of 4.91, followed by Saathiya Saath Nibhana (Star Plus) and Pavitra Rishta (Zee), with TVRs of 4.79 and 4.78, respectively.

The fourth most-watched programme is Uttaran, with 4.46 TVR. Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai ( 3.9 TVR) and Laagi Tujhse Lagan (3.58 TVR) follow next. Pratigya, Sasural Genda Phool, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and Ram Milayi Jodi are also a part of the Top 10 list.
