Delhi to get another tabloid -- The Capital Post

The new tabloid by Drishti Media and Communications is expected to be launched early next month in Delhi and NCR.

Drishti Media and Communications is launching a weekly English language tabloid titled The Capital Post in the first week of July, in the Delhi and NCR region.

The tabloid will bear a cover price of Rs 5. The initial print run of the Delhi edition of the tabloid will be around 25,000, and will be gradually increased. On an average, the weekly would have 24 pages, and will be available on Sundays.

After the Delhi launch, the group plans to introduce the tabloid in Ahmedabad, parts of Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh by the end of July.

Based on a market survey carried out by the group, the new tabloid will cater to the changing reading habits of upmarket readership and intellectual readers, with an emphasis on youth and women.

The distribution will be done through educational institutions, corporate offices, and also through direct vendors and subscriptions. The newspaper will be available with all leading bookstalls, traditional vendors, and hawkers.

In an official communiqué, Dinesh Kumar Gautam, director, marketing, says, ''The initial response for The Capital Post has been very encouraging. The subscription campaign to achieve this goal has already been set in motion, and we are swiftly moving towards it.''

He further adds, ''The weekly is an extensively-researched project, and we have designed our publication, keeping in mind the changing trends in the readership pattern of the people. This tabloid will strive to be extremely interactive, and thereby establish a lively relationship with its readers.''

The company plans to start its editions across India in a year's time.

The content mix of the weekly will mainly focus on providing information on various aspects of laws, education and business, and will cater to the needs of the youth.

To promote the weekly tabloid, the group is holding events and contests, apart from the vanilla advertising. The group is also employing window placards, stickers and other stationery across book stalls, and extending it to hawkers and vendors.

Drishti Media and Communications is initially investing Rs 50 lakh in The Capital Post.
