The Al Jazeera news network, which is based in West Asia, has appointed the media consultancy firm Aidem Ventures to handle its media sales. With this, the media consultancy will handle all channels of the network including Al Jazeera English (AJE), and its other flagship channels -- Al Jazeera Arabic, Al Jazeera Documentary, and Al Jazeera Mobasher, in India.
According to Vikas Khanchandani, director, Aidem Ventures, many more Indian companies will be seeking global media platforms. "As India continues to integrate strongly with the world economy, more and more Indian companies and brands will want to expand their footprint globally, and will seek robust global media platforms to build their brands," says Khanchandani.
"Aidem, with its extensive experience and track record in the news genre, is best equipped to partner with Al Jazeera in its foray into the Indian market," he adds.
Al Jazeera English was granted the license by the Indian government, to broadcast in India, in December 2010. Al Jazeera English currently operates a bureau and a distribution office in New Delhi.
The channel, which was launched in November 2006, operates 65 bureaus across the world, and is available in more than 100 countries.
