RBNL ropes in Abhay Ojha as national sales head, Big Magic

Ojha will be responsible for sales and revenue generation for the channel; he will report to Praveen Malhotra, executive vice-president, sales and revenue, RBNL.

Reliance Broadcast Network Limited (RBNL) has announced the appointment of Abhay Ojha as the national sales head for the company's regional television channel Big Magic.

Ojha will be responsible for the sales and revenue generation for the channel. He will report to Praveen Malhotra, executive vice-president, sales and revenue, RBNL.

In his most recent assignment at Network 18, Ojha was assistant vice-president, sales, and was heading the North India sales team for the group's Hindi news channel, IBN7. Additionally, he was responsible for looking after other group channels from the Network 18 stable, namely, CNBC TV18, CNBC Awaaz, CNN IBN and IBN Lokmat, for markets in North India, excluding Delhi.

Addressing his appointment, Ojha says in a press statement, "I am really excited about this new national role at RBNL, an organisation poised to take giant leaps towards success. I hope I am able to tackle the complex challenges of the rapidly changing media sales environment and contribute to the growth and success of the company."

Malhotra comments, "Ojha, with his vast experience and deep understanding of the nuances of the television business, will surely add tremendous value to Big Magic. I am confident that he will be a great asset to the organisation, and will help us reach the next level through his keen understanding of media sales, his dynamism and leadership skills."

An Economics graduate from Delhi University, Ojha holds apost-graduate diploma in Advertising and Communications Management from the National Institute of Advertising, New Delhi.

Ojha has worked with TV Today Network in the past (from 1999-2007), where he handled a wide portfolio of clients and advertising agencies across the network's four group channels -- AajTak, Headlines Today, Tez and Dilli Aaj Tak. At TV Today Network, Ojha formulated various sales strategies to fight competition, developed new markets in Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal, and had the additional responsibility of handling the South India team.
