InMobi acquires Sprout

Sprout is a mobile advertising solution provider which enables advertisers to create rich media ads on mobile devices.

The Bengaluru-based mobile ad network InMobi, has acquired the US-based mobile advertising solutions provider Sprout.

InMobi acquires Sprout
Sprout owns a technology platform which enables advertisers to create rich media ads (HTML5 based) for mobile devices. It works with the world's leading brands like Nokia, Disney, HTC, Chevrolet, Paramount Pictures and Sega, to bring interactive mobile ads to devices supporting HTML5, including Apple iOS and Google Android devices. Sprout is backed by Polaris Venture Partners, and has offices in Honolulu and San Francisco.

In an official communiqué, the company mentions that the acquisition of Sprout will help InMobi to address the complexity of planning, creating, distributing, and measuring of rich media mobile ads for brands and agencies in India, as well as globally. The mobile ad network clarifies that Sprout will operate and function as a fully independent company, even after the acquisition. It implies that the firm will offer mobile advertising solutions to digital agencies apart from InMobi clients, independently.

Carnet Williams, chief executive officer and co-founder, Sprout, says, "InMobi's commitment to keep Sprout as an open and independent company made it a clear choice for us. We will continue to work with all existing partners, including ad networks, globally."

For the record, InMobi's mobile ad network has a reach of about 314 million consumers, across 165 countries. It serves more than 36 billion mobile ad impressions monthly. InMobi is venture-backed by investors including Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield & Byers and Sherpalo Ventures. The company has offices in San Francisco, London, Bengaluru, Tokyo, Nairobi, and Singapore.
