Interface Communications wins Murugappa's corporate account

In March this year, the Murugappa Group had called for a creative pitch for its corporate duties. Previously, the corporate account was handled by JWT Chennai.

Draftfcb Ulka's second agency, Interface Communications has won the corporate account for Murugappa Group. The news has been confirmed to afaqs! by the company spokesperson.

The agency's Chennai branch will handle this account.

In March this year, afaqs! had reported that the Murugappa Group had called for a creative pitch process for its corporate brand.

Besides winning agency Interface Communications, agencies that took part in the pitch include JWT, Ogilvy India, Rediffusion-Y&R, R K Swamy BBDO and Hakuhodo Percept.

After the first round, the agencies that were shortlisted for the second round include JWT, Rediffusion-Y&R, R K Swamy BBDO and Interface Communications. Sources inform that towards the end of the process, the competition was down to JWT and Interface Communications.

Previously, the company's corporate brand was handled by JWT Chennai. The agency had created a brand campaign last year announcing the re-branding and a logo change. Lopez Design had crafted the new, red logo at the time.

All the agencies that participated in the pitch have worked on brands from the Murugappa stable at some point in time. For instance, R K Swamy BBDO has worked on brand Roca, Ogilvy has worked on Parryware, JWT has handled TI Cycles and Murugappa's corporate brand Hakuhodo Percept, has worked on BSA Motors (eScooter category), Rediffusion-Y&R has handled the creative duties for Cholamandalam Insurance, and Draftfcb Ulka has worked on Cholamandalam Finance.
